The owner of this BMW E46 approcahed me with an issue. He was missing one of the latch covers for the hardtop roof. Apparently a common issue with the hardtop fitted to this generation of BMW either due to being miss placed or the thin plastic lugs breaking off easily. The latch covers come in pairs, one for each side of the vehicle. Having the LH cover available, a 3D scan was used to then create a CAD model matching the surface contour and ensuring accurate positioning of the mounting lugs.
